Initial C or K spelling rule

October 30, 2022

How many times in your day do you hear : ” Does it start with a c or a k?” As with most phonics ‘rules’ there are always exceptions ( that’s what makes our language so fun ) insert eye roll here. But usually the visual I’ve included for you will be very helpful to your students.

Have you seen the cat kite image floating around the internet? Well it’s no surprise that I’ve made this ‘my own’ and added my own creative spin on it. I have created a fun, engaging way to help your students remember when to use a c and when to use a k as the beginning consonant when they are spelling.

Enter…..C in a cape and King K….

Cute C or K crafts included in this engaging phonics resource.

These darling crafts will serve as a great visual reminder of what letter to use when writing.

C or K Resource

There are plenty of other high engaging activities included in this phonics resource that will be sure to meet the diverse needs of your students. I’ve included a sort, a read and spin activity and even a literacy center to reinforce this tricky skill!

Check out all these hands on activities in this resource!!

This resource should solve the problem of kids asking which letter to use when working with the initial sound /k/ . You can find it here.
