Homo’phones’ and Minecraft…

March 28, 2013

My sweet friends ~ I am on Spring Break!!  Whoo-hoo!!  For those of you who aren’t –I’m sorry but I’m guessing it’s either coming up or already came right?!?!  Well I have to share this darling  am I even allowed to say that about my own unit???  I hope so because I really, really LIKE this one guys.  It’s homo’PHONES’ with phones get it?

I know this part doesn’t have to do with phones but had to add it anyway.  Will your kiddos have fun with this?  Tell me what you think and I will give away 2 tomorrow.  Don’t forget to leave me your email.

Now it’s mom time – My sweet son is 11 and he wanted a Minecraft party — so since I LOVE to plan KIDS parties I was all over it.  Notice I said kid parties — my gift lies in the word Kid here.  I’d much rather plan a kids party than an adult one — is that weird of me??!?!

Anywho here are some pictures of our amazing day together.

Me making tons of stuff

Creeper ice cream cake

The cake pieces look like Minecraft grass blocks — it was perfect because he didn’t want the coconut grass on top.

We had a bit of a photo booth with mustaches, bow ties, etc.  I had to make a creeper mouth though too…right?!?!

minecraft party ideas

Cover boxes with brown and bunch up green paper on top to look like a grass brick for a decoration.

Draw creeper faces on green buckets from party city – you have favor ‘bags’.

minecraft party ideas

Game – shoot the creeper – they tried to hit his ‘nose’ with a nerf arrow gun…they loved this.  The girls marked where they hit with numbered circle labels to keep track of who was the closest.

minecraft party ideas

TNT – I covered toiled paper rolls with red paper and added TNT with my cricket…then threw in some red licorice.  Of course real minecraft tnt is square I know that…LOL

minecraft party ideas

Pick up some green balloons and draw on your own creeper face.

We had a blast!!!  If you have stayed with me this long don’t forget to leave a comment for the homo’phone’ unit.

UPDATE:  Random winners : Tammy from the Resourceful Apple and Michelle.  I hope you LOVE it!!

Your homophone unit looks great! I think any kid would enjoy the theme! They get so excited when they see those iPhones, real or not. Also, love the glasses activity!
