I have been wanting a quick and easy way to encourage kids that I service in literacy. But, I wanted it to be in a tangible way that also communicates something home. I wanted it to be specific feedback as well so it gives the child an opportunity to talk directly to their parents about what we are learning in literacy.
These seem to do the trick, I created these to meet a need – a very specific need. If we are working really hard on vowels, then a child can take home a vowel star card. If we have been referring to our sound wall and I see a child referencing voiced/unvoiced or what our mouth is doing while saying a sound maybe that child can earn a sound wall star note.
The kids that come to me for literacy I feel need my encouragement and notes more than ever. These kids often lack confidence and need extra support. I’m hoping this year breathes life into my students in a whole new way. My desire is to build them up not just as good readers/writers and thinkers but to be good citizens and have more confidence.
