Bright Ideas Blog Hop * Compliment Chain *

April 12, 2014

Hi all, I LOVE this idea of sharing fun, creative new ideas that work without attaching a freebie or product to it.  Just teachers helping teachers and sharing.  That’s what it’s all about…so I am here to share with you something I have been doing for years…I’m talking { dinosaur here people }…LOL.  It’s a fun way to get your kiddos thinking about how they act OUTSIDE of our classroom or how they act INSIDE our room when we have visitors.

I call it the compliment chain.  I have a poem to go with it:

Your students want to be rewarded for their efforts and great behavior so this is a great incentive.  I hang this up ( fairly high ) depending on my students for that year and we work at getting compliments at our specials, walking in the hallways, lining up after recess, etc.  It’s always the BEST when the curriculum police come through and give us a compliment let me tell you!!!  So it’s simple and easy, no prep except a poster and some precut strips of paper and you are all set to start your own compliment chain.  You can choose how you want to reward your class when the chain hits the floor.  We are working towards a class pizza party.  Have fun with it.  Do you think it would work for your classroom?  Check out the other fun ideas from fabulous teachers all across the world.

Kids certainly love compliments! I do this in my class, too, and they get so excited when it reaches the floor. Oh, and they make sure you write that compliment right away so you can attach it on! SO fun! Thanks for sharing this great idea!

Love this! My students would really enjoy this. I use tickets in my classroom so if they get a "hallway compliment" I give everyone a ticket. But this is much more fun! Thanks!

I love the compliment chain idea! I've been looking for a SIMPLE idea for compliments all year lol!

I think Donor's Choose is a great way for teachers to get things for their classrooms. I tried it once and my project was never funded, but I'm thinking about trying again soon.

Vicky, you are brilliant. I use puzzle pieces in my classroom. But, my kids are excellent this year, and are getting to the reward too quick for this poor teacher. I am doing this right away. Thanks!
